Brockham Fair 2008

A successful day working with the community of Dorking and surrounding areas.

 Well done and many thanks to Macy, Lucas, George, Lucy, Alfie, James, Millie, Hope, Lois, Joel, Richard Harris, Sean McCarthy, Lisa Boardman, Kym Gamble and Steve McDonald.

I would also like to say thank you to all parents for their help and support on the day.

Mole Valley Youth Showcase Awards

An awards' ceremony that celebrated the achievements of local young people.

The night of the Youth Showcase Awards filled Dorking Halls with an air of celebration as young people's individual achievements were recognised. Youth Voice believes that all young people should have their achievements recognised. The awards gave everyone the chance to nominate young people for recognition in a variety of categories. .Young people’s nominations were placed by their school, association, youth group or by friends.

Award Categories:
The awards categories were:
• Youth Community Spirit Award
• Youth Teamwork Award
• Youth Performing Arts Award
• Youth Sporting Achievement Award
• Youth Art and Design Award
• Outstanding Academic Achievement Award


There were also three additional awards - one for a professional working with young people and the remaining two being voted for by Youth Voice and Junior Youth Voice.

The youth Professional Award is a different type of award. It is to recognise the achievement of a person supporting or working with young people and youth achievement. All of the nominees for this award were nominated by a young person themselves.

The nominees were:

  • Helen Woodland- Mole Valley Youth Development Officer
  • Sean McCarthy- McCarthy Martial Arts Kickboxing Coach
  • Mr. W Drew- The Ashcombe School
  • Gary Nash- Mulberry Youth Centre
  • Mark Haythorne- Surrey Youth Service

Sean McCarthy (McCarthy Martial Arts) was the winner of The Youth Professional Award.

Unfortunately as He was fighting abroad in Athens he could not collect the award in person. Kym Gamble, Macey and Steve McDonald collected the award on his behalf. The award was presented by Councillor Carolyn Cordon.

Bristol Interleague 2008


Well done to Kelly, James, George, Alec and Steve who all competed at the Bristol Interleague. Special thanks to Richard who supported his kids and the rest of the team that day.

UK Kids Open 2008

 
 

On the 16th November 2008 Jack, Hope, Joel, James, Toby, Joe and George all competed in the UK Kids Open in Crawley K2 Sports Centre. Congratulations to all who took part and well done to Joe, George and James who got Bronze in their divisions. A special thank you to Rob, Steve Richard, Sean, Tom and all others who supported the team. 

Dorking Superleague 2008


 

On the 5th October 2008 Alec, James and George all took part in the Cimac National Superleague held at Dorking Sports Centre. All fighters did exceptionally well with James taking Gold in his division. Thank you to all who came to support your children and the event.
